So I went to the CML Sandbox and played a bit. Man, I'm still sifting sand out of my shorts!
I confirmed once again that I love to lurk, but posting isn't always my thing. It was fun reading what other people liked for their favorite book, movie, etc. But I can never make up my mind what my favorite is. I like so many things.
A part of me is thinking, "Gee, maybe we could have just had 22 things." It was nice seeing a fun application of the wiki. But did we really need to have this as a separate Thing? Nah, probably not. I posted something. I saw that other people could post too. Learned that in Thing 15. Ready to move on.
Although it was fun seeing other people suggestions, I think there are other ways to compile info and share it. Ways that are visually more appealing. Ways that are easier to organize. But if this was all you had, I could be a fun way to expand Readers' Advisory services.
UPDATE: Jim reminded me of something I wanted to post about this and forgot. I saw lots of comments about how the wikis aren't very eye-catching. They look bland. Eh, so what? Do they work well? Can you search something and find it easily? Does it have at least a decent layout so you can go quickly to different sections? Well then! Seems like that should be what you are looking at. Put a pretty picture of something next to your monitor if you need something beautiful to look at. I'll take function over looks every time.
